SCAFA students take honours at Future Chef competition

24 January, 2014

SCAFA students, Haile Amanuel and Polly Smith, participating in this year’s Future Chef Hosted by Masterchef competition, took 2nd and 3rd places in the competition. Taking place in the Conrad Hotel’s Marco Pierre White Grill, this was the first time that SCAFA’s students took part in a competition and the results were an outstanding success.

Organised by the Australian Trade Commission, the event brought together two future chefs from all of the culinary schools across the country. With Emirates Academy taking 1st and 4th positions, SCAFA’s Haile and Polly did themselves and their School proud with the 2nd and 3rd spots.

Judge Quinten Lauder, Chef De Cuisine of Conrad Dubai commented “Both Haile and Polly did such a fantastic job at the MLA competition in Marco Pierre White Conrad Dubai. The Judges were impressed at the quality of work, general knowledge base and execution of the dishes. There were some areas to work on of course, but the level of standard in young students seems to be on the up and up well done!!”

Also participating were ICCA and European International Academy.

SCAFA is located in Cluster I in JLT and is open every day of the week excluding Fridays. SCAFA is open from 9am to 6pm. For more information, please call 04 379 4044 or email
